AIACO demands enquiry into land allotment
15 Feb, 2013All India Anti-Corruption Organisation (AIACO) has demanded the state government of Odisha to ensure an enquiry by a sitting judge of the High Court into the alleged scam related to government-allotted land.
The organization claimed that the allegations have been based on the reply to an application under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. AIACO alleged that in the allotment of 158 plots of land in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) areas to various private institutions and individuals between 2000 and 2011, the department of General Administration of Odisha had ignored the guidelines of the Government and the Supreme Court verdict.
The convener of AIACO stated that though the Supreme Court had forbidden the allotment of land for construction of temples, the department allotted land to organizations to construct temples. He also alleged that many land owners had violated the lease agreements and also encroached on government lands.
