Background
The appellant desired to know about the steps taken by the National Film Development Corporation (NDFC) for the promotion of the Hindi film in the regional languages evaluation by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting; grant of funds, their utilization and whether any irregularities are noticed; steps taken to control the irregularities etc. The PIO informed that to encourage production of films in regional languages with the objective to promote multilingual diversity of Indian cinema, nurturing new talent and foster excellence in Indian cinema, the Government has approved a Plan Scheme of ‘Film Production in various regional languages” for the 11th Plan period. The plan Scheme is being implemented through NDFC for which Rs.36.O0 crores has been provided under the Plan Scheme to produce about 15 films in various regional languages and 3 films in Hind/English languages during the plan period. The appellant was not satisfied with the reply provided by the respondent and filed an appeal.

The Commission ordered for an inspection of the relevant records by the Appellant and directed that any information in compliance with this Order will be provided free of cost as per Section 7(6) of RTI Act.
