RTI is not a forum for making allegations or grievance redressal
24 Dec, 2011
Background
The Appellant sought to know the action taken on her complaint sent to S.H.O. Amar Colony by speed post regarding an alleged incident where certain people abused and attacked her physically and damaged the goods. And her complaint against a person for not returning Rs. 30,000/- taken from her. She alleges that the police is colluding with the culprits and no action was taken on her complaint. The PIO informed that an enquiry was conducted into her complaint and the matter has been filed since no cognizance case has been made out. The PIO has also informed the appellant that no complaint has been lodged by her at Police Post, Srinivaspuri or with the Police Control Room.
View of the CIC
The Commission took the view that requisite information as per record and permissible under RTI Act has been provided to the appellant. The Commission noted that appellant seems to have a grievance against the local police but there is no provision in the RTI Act to redress the grievance of the appellant for which the appellant has to approach the appropriate authority.
