International Conference inaugurated at Patna by Nitish Kumar
3 Mar, 2012Inaugurating an International Conference on the Right to Information at Patna, Bihar Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar said that complaints have been pouring in about RTI applicants being implicated in false cases or being attacked. He informed that the state home department, its principal secretary and director general of police have been directed to take action against the officials harassing the RTI applicants. He assured of taking steps to ensure that the monitoring of such cases is done by the State Information Commission (SIC). He stressed on the need for more giving more powers to the SIC. Mr. Kumar explained the Jaankari scheme launched by the state government which has received 1.06 lakh phone calls and pointed that the RTI has strengthened the democracy.
