Lesser cases of drunken driving in Old city of Hyderabad
10 Nov, 2012Though drunken driving might be quite rampant in all the major cities of India, the old city of Hyderabad holds quite a respectable position in this respect. This has been revealed by the reply to an application under the Right to Information (RTI) Act filed by RTI activist, S. Q. Masood.
The data obtained in the reply states that of a total of 2,560 drunken driving cases were booked between June and August, 2012 by 25 traffic police stations in Hyderabad. Out of this, only 475 were registered in the old city in the jurisdiction of six traffic police stations. Most of the registered cases for drunken driving were against autorickshaw, cab drivers and two-wheeler riders. In most cities of India, the reporting of the cases is poor and is a matter of concern.
