Rajasthan bars failed engineers to join as faculty
11 May, 2012The Rajasthan Technical Education Department has decided to bar those engineers from applying for a job in a government engineering college who have failed in any of the subjects in any semester during their course. The decision would ensure that only meritorious candidates are fit to apply for a job in government colleges.
Earlier, a report obtained under the RTI Act was presented before the Technical Education Department which revealed that majority of the faculty in the seven government engineering colleges took more than one attempt to clear 'back' papers while pursuing B.Tech and M.Tech. It was argued before the Technical Education Department that how could it expect quality teaching from faculty with such a poor academic background.
The main colleges which will be affected are the Bikaner College of Technology and Engineering, Government Women College in Ajmer, Government Engineering College in Ajmer, Jhalawar, and Bikaner along with Rajasthan Technical University.
