RTI assists in restoring pension of a freedom fighter’s wife

Information received through a RTI application has revealed that the widow of a freedom fighter has being given lesser pension than that was due to her. In August 2009, her pension was increased to Rs 10,128 but the local authorities reportedly paid her only Rs 3,000. After a long battle, her pension amount has now been restored and the local authorities have been directed to pay her Rs 3,46,000 along with the interest. Her husband, freedom fighter Kirpal Singh had laid down his life for the independence of the nation.
