Should Aadhar card number be submitted along with applications filed under RTI Act?
The chief secretary of Maharashtra Mr. J K Banthiya's has said that the Aadhar card's number must be submitted along with applications filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. Activists from different spheres have criticised the stamen terming it as against the letter and spirit of the RTI Act. Manoranjan Roy voiced his opposition to the idea of forcing an RTI applicant to submit any identity documents. RTI activist Anil Galgali, said, "Activists are being attacked and the state should do something to protect their identity, but it is trying to bring these activists in the danger zone". The former information commissioner at the Central Information Commission Shailesh Gandhi said, "The chief secretary must have mentioned this as his personal view."
