Tender awarded despite disqualification of firm – RTI reply
19 Dec, 2012A tender was awarded in July, 2012 to Gurgaon-based private company SPML Infra Ltd. for construction of a cluster distribution network and water reservoirs under package-III of the Nagaur Lift Project phase-I.
The data provided in the reply to an application under the Right to information (RTI) Act has revealed that the said company was found to be disqualified for the tender on the basis of lack of required work experience. The disqualification was approved by a technical team of three experts headed by additional chief engineer (projects) Devraj Solanki. It has been reported that thereafter, Mr. Solanki went abroad for a training programme and the officer who replaced him prepared another report holding the firm to be eligible for the bidding. The RTI applicant, Ashok Pathak, has claimed that the firm also made false declaration about completing an earlier tender work.
The applicant has sent complaints to the President, the Prime Minister, the Union home and water resources ministries, central vigilance commission and the CBI demanding investigation in the matter.
