Appellant: How much interest has been deposited by the post office every year on deposited surplus funds - CIC: Provide the copy of rules & a comprehensive note explaining why he was not entitled to the interest amount after 2005 subject to those rules

FACTS:
1. The appellant sought information regarding his security money of Rs. 1000/- which was deposited on date 15.04.1980 in account no. 45532 in post office. He specifically sought for how much interest has been deposited by the post office every year on deposited surplus funds, how much interest per annum on the said amount from 15.05.1980 to 29.05.2017:
(1) Complete details of interest charged by the Post Office on yearly basis on Rs 1000/ as appellant’s income
(2) Complete details of the interest charged on the amount of Rs 1000/ on yearly basis from 15.05.1980 to 29.05.2017 of the appellant’s account.
No response was given by the CPIO to the above sought information .The FAA upheld the decision of the CPIO. With reference to the second appeal it was provided by the appellant that in relation to the above matter the CPIO on 27.06.2017 had replied for point
(1) that according to The Gazette Of India , no information is available regarding the matter of the interest and for point
(2) All necessary revision related to the interest amount has already been made in file no-455342, the photocopies of which is provided to the appellant.
The appellant still being unsatisfied with the information approaches to the Commission through the second appeal.
Decision :
2. Mr. S.R. Dubey representing the Etah Postal Division, submitted that the interest amount on his security amount in account had been provided till 2005 and after that period interest was not payable to him as per the Departmental Rules and the same was intimated to him.
3. The Commission directs the CPIO to provide the copy of rules and a comprehensive note explaining why the appellant was not entitled to the interest amount after 2005 subject to those rules, within 15 days.
