Is the Mysore Police Commissioner’s office coming up without plan approval?
7 Jun, 2015On the basis of information obtained from the Mysuru City Corporation under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, it has been alleged that the construction of the new police commissioner’s office has been taken up without any approval. As per the information provided, the Police Department had neither obtained licence from the MCC nor got the building plan sanctioned. The RTI applicant M.R. Ashok Kumar has alleged that it is being constructed in the space meant to be used as a park for children and has filed a PIL in the High Court along with other residents of Nazarabad seeking a stay on the construction.
The new office is being constructed in front of the earlier office at a cost of Rs. 14 crore and was being used as a playground for children of ward numbers 64 and 65. The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had laid the foundation stone for it and the then Police Commissioner had reportedly said that there was no compulsion for the police to get the plan approved by the MCC for a building construction. The MCC councilors had objected to the construction without following the procedure.
