Appointment for the post of finance and development officer of Punjab University challenged
31 Jan, 2013A division bench of the Punjab and Haryana high court has issued notice to the Punjab University, Chandigarh and others, asking them to file a reply on the petition challenging appointment to the post of finance and development officer (FDO).
The bench comprising of the Chief Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rakesh Kumar heard the petition filed by Chandigarh based RTI activist Rajinder Singla in which he challenged the appointment of Vikram Nayyar as FDO. The petition claimed that Nayyar does not fulfil the qualification and experience as laid down in the advertisement issued by the University and those prescribed by the University Grant Commission (UGC).
It has been claimed that Nayyar was not selected by the Selection Committee as he was not found suitable for the post in 2007. Even by the revised norms, he was not qualified as he had done his Master's degree from the Vinayaka Mission University of directorate of distance education which is not an approved degree by the Punjab University.
The bench issued notices for March 21.
