Call details of mobile phone of third party in a criminal case
The appellant sought call details of two mobile numbers. As the mobile numbers belong to a third party, the PIO sought consent of the third party who objected to the disclosure of the call details. Accordingly, the PIO refused to disclose the requested information.
View of the CIC
The Information Commission noted that the appellant was having some dispute with his wife and her relatives regarding which a criminal case has been registered. It is a personal matter between the parties and does not involve larger public interest. Hence, the Commission dismissed the appeal.
