Verified signature of a public servant is also information
10 Jan, 2012Background
The appellant sought certain information along with certified copy of a verified signature of Mr. Jagdish. When the PIO did not respond under stipulated time period, the appellant filed an appeal before the FAA who too, did not responded. A notice was issued by the Commission on 03/11/2011 to the respondent with a direction to provide the information to the appellant and further sought an explanation for not furnishing the information within the mandated time.
View of the CIC
On examination of the copy of the information sent to the appellant after the Commission’s direction, the Commission found that the information sent is irrelevant and does not address the queries in the RTI application. The Commission directed the respondent to provide a certified copy of a verified signature of Mr. Jagdish to the appellant.
Comments
There would be some documents carrying the signature of an individual in an organisation which can be provided to an applicant.
