Delhi chief minister gets notice from Lokayukta
14 Feb, 2013A complaint was filed with the Delhi Lokayukta alleging that chief minister Sheila Dikshit had misused her position for handing out contracts to the tune of Rs 6 crore bypassing the established norms for 'publication and release of outdoor publicity’ for various departments under the Delhi government's control.
The complainant claimed that the reply to an application under the Right to Information (RTI) Act reveals that the CM granted undue and exceptional favours to M/s Ved Pohoja and Associates which were not even empanelled with the Directorate of Information & Publicity or the Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity. The complainant also claimed that the RTI reply showed CM’s favour to another agency - M/s Amar Holistic Society for Disables - which doesn’t have any expertise for media consultancy works.
Delhi Lokayukta Justice Manmohan Sarin has issued a show cause notice to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit as to why an inquiry in respect of allegations should not be held.
