DMRC declines to provide information regarding change in route plan
3 Sep, 2013An application was filed with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) under the Right to Information (RTI) Act seeking to know the reasons for changing the original metro Phase III route.
The application also sought to know if under phase III, DMRC was considering connecting the extreme end of East Delhi i.e. Kalyan Puri, Trilokpuri and Kondli to South Delhi. Further, the applicant wanted information about the action taken by the corporation on a letter sent by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) in this regard.
In its reply to the query regarding the reasons behind the change of Metro rail route from Anand Vihar-Lajpat Nagar to Welcome-Lajpat Nagar, the DMRC refused to provide the information stating that it doesn’t come under the purview of the RTI Act. Regarding the action taken on the letter from CMO, the reply from the metro rail corporation said that the letter could not be traced.
