Government houses being given at miniscule rent
1 Mar, 2014A reply to the Right to Information (RTI) application filed with the estate department has revealed that the Uttar Pradesh government has allotted government houses to various political parties at miniscule rents.
In response to the application the department has communicated that the rent paid by the Congress for its office at Mal Avenue is Rs. 2428/-. Similarly various other parties like the Samajwadi Party office at Vikramaditya Marg pays a monthly rent of Rs. 2425/- while the Samajwadi Yuvajan Sabha office at Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg pays rent of Rs. 2525 per month. The Janata Dal office at Major Banks Road pays a monthly rent of Rs. 2026, the BJP office at Vidhan Sabha Marg pays a monthly rent of Rs. 4849, the Lok Dal office at 9B Triloki Nath Road pays Rs. 2046 and the CPI (M) office at Vidhan Sabha Marg pays a monthly rent of Rs. 2008.
