Kerala High Court asks for the procedure for the appointment of Information Commissioner
9 Apr, 2012A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court has asked the State government to inform whether any guidelines had been formulated for selection of persons to the post of Information Commissioners in the State Information Commission (SIC).
On a writ petition filed by D.B. Binu, the Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice V. Chitambaresh issued the directive. The petitioner was seeking a directive to frame appropriate procedure for selection of candidates to the posts of Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioner and also wanted a stay to fill the vacancies of the Information Commissioners till any clear guidelines were in place. The petitioner alleged that no advertisement of the posts was done and no applications are being invited from eligible persons making a mockery of the selection process.
