LMC has no clue about various union offices in its buildings
19 Feb, 2014An application was filed with the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (LMC) under the Right to Information (RTI) Act seeking to get the certified copies of the allotment orders of the offices, premises or property of the corporation to the staff unions.
The information provided in the reply shows that some unions have opened their offices and have been operating from various buildings of the municipal corporation. Moreover, the reply also suggests that the corporation is not aware of its offices being allotted to the unions. The reply states that the drawing branch has no clue about the total number of offices running in its premises and whether which room has been occupied for which office. The reply also showed that no documents were available with the LMC indicating efforts to get the union offices vacated from its premises.
After the RTI query, the assistant town planner (headquarters) has asked the concerned officials of the different zones of the municipal corporation to submit a report in this regard. The applicant, claiming that some union offices are not authorized and should be vacated, has now lodged a complaint with the Municipal Commissioner and has requested him to direct the corporation staff to maintain the records properly so that unauthorized occupations could be prevented.
