Petty charges for vehicles hired during elections-RTI reply
8 Dec, 2012The reply to an application filed under the Right to information (RTI) Act has revealed that government is paying only a meager amount as the hiring charges for private vehicles. The reply states that the Gujarat state transport buses are being paid around Rs. 8,000 a month while private luxury buses are paid merely Rs 1,300 per day.
Apart from this the tour and travel operators are also upset about the arbitrary methods used by the election officials for the requisition of the vehicles. Also ST buses are paid in advance but private operators have to wait for around two months to get their dues cleared.
The Baroda Tours and Travels Association (BTTA), which has about 350 registered operators in Vadodara, has written to the district collector and chief election officer (CEO) of Gujarat about the problem.
