Quantum of fees paid to the lawyers

Background
The appellant sought information about the total expenditure incurred by the organization on payment to lawyers in various cases it has fought against him from time to time. The PIO provided certain information and on appeal, the First Appellate Authority endorsed the decision of the PIO while suggesting the Appellant to inspect the relevant registers in the office.

The Commission provided one more opportunity to the Appellant to inspect the records on any mutually convenient date and directed that after inspection, if the Appellant chooses to get photocopies of some of those records, the PIO shall provide the same free of charge.
Comments
Lawyers can claim the fees as commercial information which is held by the organisation in fiduciary capacity.
