RTI reveals high instances of foreign trips by ministers
3 Jan, 2013The reply to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act has revealed that 25 cabinet ministers in Andhra Pradesh government have undertaken 57 foreign tours since the formation of government in 2009.
The reply provided by the General Administration Department (GAD) of the state shows that out of 57, only 23 were official tours. Rest 34 trips have been made for personal reasons. The reply tells that overall the ministers spent a total of 500 days abroad in a period of three and half years. The reply also shows that no chief minister has undertaken any foreign trips, whether official or personal. However, the reply to the RTI appeal doesn’t provide any information on the money spent on these trips.
