RTI reveals KSRTC’s Bus Terminal Complex doesn’t have building permit
4 Sep, 2013The reply to an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act has shown that the huge Bus Terminal Complex being constructed by the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) in Kozhikode is yet to get the building permit from the Kozhikode Municipal Corporation. The 12-storeyed complex with 30,000 square metre of commercial space is nearing completion but neither the Corporation has given a building permit nor the Chief Town Planner has approved the layout.
The reply to the application from the municipal corporation shows that the permit has not been sanctioned to the complex, which is a joint venture of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation and Kerala Transport Development Finance Corporation, because of violation of Kerala Municipal Building Rules (KMBR).
The KTDFC has maintained that there has been inordinate delay on the part of the corporation in awarding the permit. However, almost 85 per cent of the complex has been completed. The sources in the corporation reportedly told that though there was no major issue involved in the construction plan of the main building, there were some issues regarding the subsidiary buildings for which the permit has been denied.
