RTI reveals over Rs.10 crore spent on Sadbhavna yatra
6 Oct, 2012It has been alleged on the basis of replies to applications filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act that the Gujarat government spent Rs. 10.42 crore as payment for 7,270 buses hired from the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) for the Sadbhavana Mission. The former chief minister of Gujarat Suresh Mehta who is now a member of Gujarat Parivartan Party has claimed that information is yet to be received from from seven district collectors and two municipal corporations. He claimed to have filed at least 112 applications for getting information about the expenses incurred on Sadbhavna Mission with various government departments.
The Sadbhavna Mission lasted between October 2011 and February 2012 and fasts were held at 33 places across the state.
