RTI reveals violation of norms in appointment of assistant professors
2 Feb, 2013The reply to an application under the Right to Information (RTI) Act has revealed that norm violation in recruitment of assistant professors in the Rani Channamma University (RCU-Belgaum).
On the basis of notification issued in December 2012, the university had recruited two assistant professors, one in library department and the other in information department. The RTI reply shows that the candidate appointed in the library department had got 53.50% in his M.Lib. against the university criterion of master’s degree with minimum 55% marks. The information received from the University of Hyderabad shows that the candidate recruited in the information department had worked there for 10 years as a non-teaching faculty and he had never undertaken any research project but as per the university norms the candidate must have experience of eight years in teaching or research work.
The vice chancellor of the university has denied the allegations.
