RTI shows high instances of criminal activities in Nagpur city gardens
26 Jan, 2013An application was filed with the crime branch under the Right to information (RTI) Act seeking information on the number of cases of sexual harassment, indecent behaviour and criminal activities reported from the gardens of Nagpur in 2012. The sought information pertained to Ambazari, Botanical, Telangkhedi and Maharajbagh gardens.
The data provided by the crime branch in the reply to the query states that there were 70 registered cases from Telangkhedi garden including those of consumption of liquor and gambling. Between 2010 and 2012, the police registered 253 cases of indecent behaviour at Ambazari garden. The reply suggested that the safest garden in Nagpur was Maharajbagh where not even a single case of indecent behaviour has been either witnessed or reported.
