Session on RTI by Dr. Anuradha Verma at NIPCCD
15 Dec, 2012National Institute of Public Co-operation and Child Development (NIPCCD), Indore conducted a long session on Right to Information (RTI) Act which was conducted by Dr. Anuradha Verma. The session was attended by around 35 CDPO and ADPO level officers from Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
Dr. Verma discussed the various provisions of the RTI Act and the participants raised the question of changes in the Maharashtra RTI rules. Other topics which were hotly discussed and debated included bringing BCCI and political parties within the ambit of RTI Act, dealing with applications seeking voluminous information, Misuse of the Act, resources for implementing RTI Act, obligations of the public authority etc. The officials raised the problems faced by them in dealing with the RTI applications for which solutions were provided by Dr. Verma.
The NIPCCD, Indore is one of the four Regional Centres set up to cater to the regional requirements of research and training in the field of Women and Child Development in the country. The other regional centres are located at Bangalore, Guwahati, and Lucknow. The regional director Dr. Krishnamoorthy welcomed the speaker and Mr. Mishra gave a vote of thanks.
