Status of investigation regarding abduction was sought under RTI

Background
The appellant filed an application under the Right to Information (RTI) Act with the Delhi Police seeking information about investigation conducted and the status of charge sheet/ court case in a case registered in connection with the abduction of his younger brother. The Public Information Officer (PIO) informed the appellant that the case is under investigation.
Proceeding
During the hearing before the Central Information Commission (CIC), the respondent stated that the investigation in the case is still in progress and there has been no clue about the whereabouts of the victim. The appellant stated that he is not satisfied with the progress of investigation as the matter is now 2 ½ years old. He also stated that he was never been contacted by the Police during the course of the investigation. The respondent stated that they would contact the appellant and examine the points of suspicion raised by the appellant during the course of investigation.

The Commission directed the PIO to provide the details of investigation carried out so far to the appellant and also to contact the appellant as per the assurance given during the hearing.
