Third accused in the murder mystery of RTI Activist Chandra Mohan Sharma arrested
8 Nov, 2014Nearly five months after the dead body of a man was found on Noida - Greater Noida Express Highway, the police has arrested the third and last accused in the case. The finding of the burnt body in a car had raised a lot of media interest as the dead was thought to be an RTI activist, Chandra Mohan Sharma, who had raised many queries under the Act. He was subsequently arrested from Bengaluru for faking his death and murdering a mentally unstable man whose body was found in the car. The police had also arrested his 25 year old live in partner Preeti Nagar and are working to establish the identity of the dead.
His brother-in-law, Videsh, was absconding for nearly two months and was arrested from the Alpha sectors' commercial area in Greater Noida following a tip off that he is likely to come to the area. He was later produced in a court which remanded him to judicial custody.
Police believes that Videsh had aided Chandra Mohan Sharma in picking up an unidentified mentally unstable man who was burnt to death to give an impression that Sharma is dead. Videsh also dropped Chandra Mohan Sharma on his bike at Pari Chowk, from where Sharma took a bus for the railway station to flee to Bengaluru.
