Two offices of the BMC have different perception about same query
14 Oct, 2013
In of the same department of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) gave two completely different answers. While the central water department gave a detailed reply, the ward level office denied reply to an application filed under Right to Information (rti) Act by Larson Fernandes, two offices the information stating that the information sought was personal in nature.
The appellant had asked for information detailing the posting of Sub-engineer M A More and Junior-engineer Jagdish Khole since 2004 and 2009 respectively from central department of hydraulic engineering and water department of K-west ward.
The chairman of the ward committee K-west, Ameet Satam, accepted that the nature of the information was not at all personal in nature as all the mentioned officials are public servant and took a serious note of the stand taken by the ward level office, while accepting the fact of nexus between ward level offices of the water department and the tanker mafia, which acquire water at free of cost by using forged letter heads and sell it at a commercial rate.
