The High Court had criticised the state police for their poor investigations in the case for which allegations were raised against the BJP MP from Junagadh Dinu Bogha Solanki. Though his nephew Shiva Solanki was arrested along with a sharp shooter for allegedly carrying out the killing, but the state police did not find any involvement of the MP in the murder and he was given a clean chit.
The High Court had said that "Murder of a petitioner in a PIL and an RTI activist, in front of the High Court, could be read as a clear message to the concerned citizens that they may have to pay by their lives, if they insist upon using the tools placed in their hands by law and approach the court for redressal of public grievance against some individuals."
