Punjab government to suo-motu disclose official tours under RTI
9 Nov, 2012In order to bring about transparency, the state government of Punjab has decided to implement administrative reforms by disclosing the information regarding the official tours of ministers and officials.
In this respect, directions have been sent to all financial commissioners and department heads to provide the relevant information suo motu and under Right to Information (RTI) Act pertaining to official tours of ministers and other officials of the rank of joint secretary and above to the Union government.
The information thus disclosed will be regarding both - the domestic tours and the foreign tours. It will contain the nature of the official tour, places visited, the duration of the tour, number of people included in the official delegation and total cost of such travel. However, these directives will not apply to security and intelligence organisations.
